Objective

Enhance the knowledge of Basic life support and building community first responders (CFRs) in the community in Bangkok Noi district

Target group

Volunteer motorcycle-taxi drivers and any layperson who were interested in CPR training in Bangkok Noi community

Activities

Activities in phase 1 focus on building community first responders (CFRs) in Bangkok-Noi district as follows:

– Activity 1: CPR training for motorcycle-taxi drivers and any layperson who were interested in CPR training of 145 people.

● 19 October 2019 at Wat Suwannaram school.

● 26 October 2019 at Ban Chang Lo community.

● 9 November 2019 at Bangkok-Noi District Office.

– Activity 2: CPR testing aimed to certify community first responders (CFRs) of 119 people.

● 23 November 2019.

● 30 November 2019.

– Activity 3: Prepared an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest system in Bangkok-Noi district.

● To develop a crowdsourcing mobile application called Siriraj Emergency Responder Application (SiER app). It was used to determine the victim’s location and to dispatch a community first responders (CFRs) to the scene.

● To deploy automatic external defibrillator (AED) at The Ansorissunnah Royal Mosque community, Wat Dusitaram community, Wat Suwannaram community, and Wat Amon Thayikaram community.

– Activity 4: An audit of the system by in situ simulation in the community of 99 people.

● 19 December 2019 at The Ansorissunnah Royal Mosque community and Wat Dusitaram community.

● 20 December 2019 at Wat Pho Riang community.

● 21 December 2019 at Wat Amon Thayikaram community.
From 12 simluated cases in 4 activities, we found that community first responders (CFRs) arrived at the scene before the ambulance arrived in all cases and community first responders (CFRs) took an average of 8 minutes to arrive at the scene.

Activities in phase 2 focus on building volunteer motorcycle taxi drivers to community first responders (CFRs) in Bangkok-Noi district as follows:

– Activity 1: Meeting with community first responders (CFRs) who were motorcycle-taxi drivers of 6 people on 14 January 2020.
After the meeting, Focus on public relations and organizing activities to be more concise at the motorcycle-taxi parking.

– Activity 2: Public relation and make an appointment for CPR training at the motorcycle-taxi parking on 28 January 2020.

– Activity 3: CPR training for motorcycle-taxi drivers in the community at the motorcycle-taxi parking of 59 people.

● 3 February 2020 at Soi Charan Sanit Wong 33 motorcycle-taxi parking.

● 12 February 2020 at Soi Charan Sanit Wong 29/1 and 31 motorcycle-taxi parking.

● 20 February 2020 at Soi Charan Sanit Wong 23 and Soi Isaraphab 35 motorcycle-taxi parking.

– Activity 4: Certification of competent volunteers as community first responders (CFRs) of 7 people on 28 February 2020.

Output/Outcome

This project organized CPR training for motorcycle-taxi drivers and any layperson who were interested in CPR training 7 times. After that, we have 152 community first responders (CFRs) also 7 times to rescue out-of-hospital cardiac arrest patients and 40% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest patients received chest compressions before the ambulance arrived. Moreover, An audit of the system by in situ simulation in the community 5 times and 82.35% passed the criteria test.
